Echocardiographic Interpretation Skills of Graduating Cardiology Trainees

      Cardiology training program graduates can independently practice echocardiography on completion of 6 blocks (months) of echocardiography training and performance of 150 and interpretation of 450 echocardiograms.

      Achievement of these thresholds have not been formally evaluated to determine whether this equates to competency. This study assessed the echocardiography interpretation skills of 4 consecutive years of consenting graduating trainees (2017-2020) who volunteered to participate in an assessment of echocardiography interpretative skills in 14 cases that may be encountered in community practice.
